Overview
Below is a quick overview of the various OFR couplers and collimators. Use the links on the left or below to get specific product information.
FiberPort (PAF)
Use for coupling a collimated free space beam into, SM, PM or MM fiber. The FiberPort contains an aspheric lens that has 5 degrees of freedom for adjustment. The FiberPort is extremely stable and repeatable and can take the place of fiber jig holder/XYZ translation coupling stations. FiberPorts are also used in Fiber-Fiber coupling systems where they accurately couple light with > 85% coupling efficiency.
Snap-On Collimators (CFC)
Snap-On collimators attach to FC and SMA connectorized fibers. The collimators contain a single aspheric lens that is controllable in the Z dimension only which allows for collimation adjustment. Snap-On collimators are not recommended for fiber coupling applications. See FiberPorts (PAF) for fiber coupling applications.
Pigtailed Collimators (CFS)
Pigtailed collimators are non-adjustable fixed collimators. The collimators contain a single aspheric lens that is set for collimation at a specific wavelength. Collimators have 1m of fiber which by default has no connector on the distal end.
